Guild Wars Freeze
Since a week or so, my computer's been freezing alot,... I uninstalled GW, just to make sure it wasn't the cause, my pc kept freezing, and we finally found out what was wrong,... I downloaded the setup from www.guildwars.com and guess what,... The Freeze is back,... As soon as it was on my pc, my pc kept freezing again,... I tried it multiple times.
I deleted it again, and everything got back to normal
BUT I WANT TO PLAY GUILDWARS!!
No fun.

One possible cause (out of many):
If you run ZoneAlarm or other firewall, make sure it is either off, or that GW has privileges before you launch GW. Remember that the GW.exe changes frequently.

Hmm,... I didn't say I installed Guildwars again, but as soon as the setup hit my computer, it started freezing again,... Without even launching it.
How could that be a consequence of firewall-privileges and such?

ive been having this issue a LOT since this past update. In game, it freezes (even when not fighting) for about 2-3 seconds, the lets up for about 5 secs and repeats. Turning down graphics and sound quality didnt work (even though I have a 512 MB Graphics card and a SoundBlaster Sound card), so there is something screwed up with the game. A lot of people in my guild are also having this problem. I really hope ANet fixes this, as it is tough to miss the first seconds of a big fight.

I've exactly the same problem since the last update : freeze a lot (2/3 seconds, sometime 5 seconds)
It's really irritating, I can't join a group, because I pull enemies during the freeze
Arena, please, fixe it!

Same here...I've been getting the problem too. It used to be only on festival/event weekends, and I assumed it was because there were so many other players on-line that it was causing server problems for me. But now I've realised that it's also throughout the week. The freezing is sometimes much longer when I'm in my guild hall, to the point where I have to close down the programme and load it again. I expect the odd lag here and there on occasion when I'm playing, but what I don't think I should have to put up with is lagging/freezing every 5 seconds when my character is solo running through a zone that has been completely cleared of monsters. AB's have become a no-go area because I can't play them....I'm effectively viewing as a slideshow.

Im beginning to get them recently too, freezes that are a split second only but still very obvious and irritating. intervals between freezes can be like 10-15seconds or lesser. It couldn't be connection lag since i checked it, it was fine and usual. My comp specs are AMD64 3400+, 6800GS 256mb and 2GB of ram so i don't think specs are causing it too.

Yup, I'm being affected by this bug as well. After playing about half an hour, the lag spikes begin. They occur anywhere between 10-30 seconds and last for about 2-5 seconds. At first I thought it was my video card overheating, but the temps all read normal. Then I went "Hm, this only started happening after the last big update. Something doesn't seem right." It makes the game rather unpleasant and unplayable when your character keeps stuttering in mid-battle.
My system is a few years old and certainly can't be called high-spec, but it's always run GW smooth as glass... until now.

I am experiencing the small "snags" during gameplay as well. My attention of late was focused on a crash issue I have been having since the update in one specific area of Pre-Sear, but the lag-snags have been an ongoing annoyance since the update as well.
My system is 3 years old and home built, I have never had any performance issues other than having to play over a satellite connection.

i found a quick fix. if you havent tried defraging your C:\Program Files\Guild Wars folder yet, I would recommend that you do. It helped me for about a day, and the problem is back. Might need to do it again...anywho, i really hope ANet does figure out a fix for this. It is getting hella annoying
